What's in a shape ?

This is part one of a 2 part series.

Tumbled , rough, spheres, pyramids.. which one should I take. Does it even matter. For those new to crystals, this is an unknown aspect of crystal healing that can make a difference in the way the crystal works. While the field of Sacred Geometry is vast and fascinating. This is a brief look at the different basic shapes that crystals are polished into ( not the types of formations ) and they can help us achieve our intentions.

TUMBLED -

The tumble is one of the most common shape of polished crystals available. These come in various sizes, but usually are small enough to fit in your pocket. Their roundish shape allows them to send energy in all directions, and are the perfect companion to grab when you need a little comfort. They get their name because they are tumbled around in a machine until they are smooth and shiny. No tumble is ever the same, but these are the most pocket friendly (pun intended ! ) shape around...

Calm, Harmony , Flexibility

cube

The cube associated with the number four denotes grounding and stability. A perfect cube reminds us that we must strive for balance. it is associated with the root chakra, and all things material / solid.

In crystals, the pyrite is the only specimen which grows as a perfect cube ! Use a cube in a place that is chaotic , like an office. It will help to center your energies and stay calm. Different stones can have different healing effects.

Quartz will help you see the situation clearly, while fluorite will dispel negativity from all sides.

A cube also represents the truth as it is . only the truth looks the same from all directions.

Grounding , Truth , Structure

SPHERE

The circle, with its lack of boundaries, no beginning and no end radiates energy in all directions..It signifies wholeness and emptiness, flow ( the energy is always moving due to its curves, and the planets. Keep spheres in a space where you would like the energy to move. An ill ventilated room would benefit from small spheres in all corners or by the window. Spheres make the best meditation tools, helping you see a situation from all sides, and finding a solution that benefits all.

Spheres are expensive compared to tumbles, but a machine polished sphere will be priced lower than a hand polished sphere.

Harmony , Flow , Wholeness

PYRAMIds

Pyramids have four triangular sides and a square base. They draw energy in both directions. Grounding it, and also directing it. This makes them great for manifestation. Use them in grids, or to manifest. Pyramids work well when placed around the home. You can use small pyramids to balance the chakras by placing them on the body.

A black tourmaline pyramid placed in the center of the room, with quartz point directed towards it will draw out the unwanted energies. A pyramid can be programmed to either bring down energy, or to send it up.

Grounding , Focus , Manifestation

EGG

Eggs or Lingams represent creation. They are perfect tools when one wants to create anything new, like start a project. . A lingam however has the additional energy of Lord Shiva and its energy is also predominantly male. These three dimensional Eggs come in many sizes , choose whatever suits your budget. They make great fertility crystals. The egg shape can be used to help shield, heal or strengthen the aura. Crystal Eggs channel the energies of renewal, meditated with one to start something new. Small Eggs could be carried but may be a bit fragile. Place them in bowls or use a stand like those for crystal spheres. They can be used in the center of crystal grids for protection, healing or new beginnings.

Birth, Transformation ,Beginnings

A point does as it name says ! It points energy towards, or away from anything. This may be the body, another crystal , or a location. Points are versatile tools and must haves for grids. Crystals pointed towards the body will give healing, and those pointed away will release. Use them in both directions to maintain balance. Points can also be used on acupressure points of the body by a trained practitioner to enhance healing. The number of sides a point has will add additional meaning to the stone.

Focus, Manifesting, Ascension

massagers, which are used to massage various parts of the body in a circular motion. They are pointed at one end, and rounded at the other. They can be programmed to direct energy away from the body, or towards it.

Relaxation, Healing,,Flow

Other shapes include heart , angels, animals etc. Hearts bring love, and angels protection and divine connection. Carved animals represent spirit animals and their characteristics along with those of the stone. slices can be used as coasters, to charge water, or to draw out pain from the stomach / or heal it.

Love, Spirit , Healing
